Shreveport-Bossier Best Screenplay Contest Rules and Guidelines
Screenplays will be admitted in "industry standard" screen play format (see example on this page).One page of a screen play should equate to roughly one minute of "shooting script". Screenplays will be submitted as spec a screenplay and be will between 5 and 15 pages in total length. Entries will be submitted as .pdf files. Include your name, contact information, and the title of each of your screen play on the entry form. Do not include personal identification information on the screenplays themselves. Screenplays will be set to the present day and take place in the Shreveport-Bossier Area. One winner will be chosen and awarded a short film produced by Fairfield Studios. The four finalists will be announced on the web site in September and the winner announced during the Red River Revel. In all cases, the decisions of the judges are final.
1. All contestants must reside in Bossier, Caddo, or Webster Parish.
2. Screenplays should feature the Shreveport-Bossier area in a positive light.
3. Screenplays will be fictional stories.
4. Content will be "PG" ie no excessive language, violence, or sexual content.
5. Content will not portray any negative stereotypes based on religion, sex, race, or sexual orientation.
6. No person may win more than one prize in this contest regardless of the number of entries.
7. Only one screenplay may be entered per contestantAny entry that does not conform to these rules may not be entered into the contest, may not be returned, and may not be acknowledged. This contest is open to all amateur writers, defined as anyone who has not sold a screenplay for motion picture or television for an amount exceeding $5,000 before the end of the competition. Entries must be received no later than Aug 31st, 2011. The winning screenplay writer will agree to allow licensing rights to Fairfield Studios for one year in order to create the Short Film. The short film director will also have creative license to adapt screenplay to film.
